Employment Tips Workshops
Bedford Public Library in conjunction with North Texas Library Partners, the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, and the Texas Workforce Commission are presenting two timely workshops to help you prepare for a new job.
Resumes, Cover Letters & Interviewing
Learn the basic guidelines for creating resumes and cover letters. Get the inside track on basic interviewing tips that can make the most of a job interview.
Online Job Hunting Tips
Learn about the top web sites for job searching as well as tips and tricks to get your resume seen!
Registration is not required for these free programs. Seating is limited to 40 people per workshop. These are first-come, first-served programs.

Program - Taking Action after a Dementia Diagnosis

This new workshop is designed to equip and support newly diagnosed persons and their families. Participants will learn more about the disease and its progression as well as have an opportunity to talk to others on the same road. Information about programs and services available through the Alzheimer's Association-North Central Texas Chapter, clinical trials, advocacy and the promotion of brain health for the person with Alzheimer's will be provided.

CHIP (Children's Health Insurance Program) is for children of families that earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but cannot afford private health insurance. Bedford Public Library has partnered with CHIP/Children's Medicaid who will provide an informative monthly program. CHIP representatives will be in the Library on Wednesday afternoons from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm to answer all your questions and help you apply. Celebrate Seuss Festival
Be sure to put Sunday, March 7 from 1:00-3:00 on your calendar - that's the afternoon of our annual Celebrate Seuss Festival in which we honor all things having to do with Dr. Seuss. It's always a super time with fun activities, celebrity readers, a costume contest and free birthday cake and lemonade.Date: Sunday, March 7, 2010

Explore the World of Harry Potter
An evening to delight Harry Potter fans of all ages! Celebrate the wonder and enchantment of Harry Potter with Steve Vander Ark, author of the Harry Potter Lexicon website and the companion book, The Lexicon . Discover the rich background of the world created by J. K. Rowling. Explore Harry Potter's Britain, from the Victorian architecture of King's Cross Station and Diagon Alley to Hogwarts castle, lost in the Highlands of Scotland. Dig into the history, mythology, and magic of the creatures, spells, and names in the Harry Potter books. Whether new to the books of a seasoned Potter aficionado, everyone who loves the stories of the boy wizard and his friends will discover something new in this fascinating evening with one of the world's premier Harry Potter experts. No registration is required for this free event. Wear a Harry Potter inspired costume to be eligible to win a door prize. Copies of Mr. Vander Ark's book will be available for purchase.

Take a look at these photos from our recent Celebrate Seuss Festival. Over 1,000 people attended and had a great time. Library Advisory Board Chair, Ralph Chaney, read Green Eggs and Ham, we had a costume contest, cake decorating contest, a bounce house, balloons and loads more fun.

3rd Annual Celebrate Seuss Festival
Bedford Library is inviting all children, both young and old, to celebrate the joys of reading on the 105th birthday of Dr. Seuss! Date: Sunday, March 1, 2009
