On Wednesday, November 19th, Bea Cocogran, the school librarian at Shady Brook Elementary, invited our librarians to visit their kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade classes to provide a program on the book, Martha Speaks by Susan Meddaugh.
Bea played Martha the dog - the kids thought that was so cool. Now when those kids see her they will always think of her playing Martha. Some of the kids in 1st and 2nd grade got to play parts in the program too.
We followed up with photos which showed each and every child with a coloring sheet, stickers, and bookmark from Alloy Media & Marketing. The promotinal materials are for a launch of a new PBSkids TV show about Martha the dog. If one of the photos is selected by Alloy the library will receive $100. If the kids win, BPL will provide an ice cream party for the K-2 classes.
